Alrighty, well here's my REAL first entry. I just typed it up last night, but then the internet wouldn't work, and somehow I can't find where I saved it, so this is kind of my second draft. Anyways, here is the quick update of the past year of my life, both for posterity and anybody reading this who hasn't been in touch lately. Essentially, all good things come in threes, so here are mine.
First big event was my job at Friends School in Detroit. I taught elementary and middle school music classes, and also assisted various classes and taught violin lessons after school. I had a great time working there. Kids were great, and the staff was really fun to work with. I'm sad to leave, but I'm still excited about our big move nonetheless.
Next, wedding. Yeah, married. Nobody was really very surprised, to be honest. Overall, everything was great. We looked great, wonderful pictures, wonderful flowers, food was tasty. The relatives were none too pleased when we cut down the guest list to twenty-something, but the small size matched our small budget perfectly. Everything big comes in threes, right? Well, we had three big challenges that kept our wedding interesting. First, the cake was barely baked in time, and it was the wrong flavor. Second, a reader didn't arrive to the ceremony in time to read. Third, a terrific thunderstorm the evening of the wedding left us all without power for about twenty hours. Yee-haw. But at least we have really good stories!
The third big consumer of my time this year has been applying to the JET Program. I'll post again with a summary of the application process, but let's just say for now that it was incredibly time-consuming, and I've had at least half a dozen passport pictures taken this year.
Just over two weeks left until we leave!
The next time I post, I will be an aunt. Rachel is getting a c-section as I write this. I'm really excited. I'm incredibly glad I'll get to see the baby before I leave for Japan.

cool.
Hey chica,I'm a fan of cousins moving to other countries maintaining online journals so we can all keep track of you. :) (Not that I did anything so considerate when I moved to Gahna, but hey -- it's a lot less wired than Japan. :)
Good luck with the packing and the flying and such!
